  1. 21. Patients with hip fracture : A decade of morbidity and surgery

    Författare :Noelle Probert; Karin Blomberg; Åsa Andersson; Katarina Wilhelmsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Hip fracture is a devastating condition causing excess mortality in older people. Over recent time, incidence has declined while mortality remains unchanged, suggesting changes in morbidity. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Acute Confusional State in Elderly Patients with Hip Fracture. Identification of risk factors and intervention using a prehospital and perioperative management program

    Författare :Karin Björkman Björkelund; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; postoperative confusion; mortality; pain; fasting; hypoxemia; complications; ASA; Anemia; transfusion.; anesthesia;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge about underlying causes and perioperative risk factors of Acute Confusional State (ACS) in elderly patients with hip fracture and to investigate the effect of a multi-factorial intervention program in order to decrease the number of patients who develop ACS. The aim in paper I was to describe elderly patients with hip fracture on the basis of the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ ASA classification system and to identify preoperative risk factors in relation to the postoperative outcome measured up to 4-months after surgery. 3. 23. Gender differences in patients with hip fracture : aspects on care and recovery

    Författare :Bodil Samuelsson; Nils Dalén; Anne-Cathrine Mattiasson; Margareta Hedström; Marie-Louise Hall-Lord; Sophiahemmet Högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hip fractures;

    Sammanfattning : Hip fractures in the elderly are common and impose a substantial burden on the healthcare system. This fracture population consists of many subgroups that often require differentiated and extensive acute and postfracture care. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Aspects of bone quality and risk assessments in fracture and elective orthopaedic patients

    Författare :Camilla Bergh; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fracture; Fracture incidence; Epidemiology; Mortality; Osteoporosis; Frailty; Spinal stenosis; Bone quality; Bone mineral density;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Bone quality, bone strength, and bone remodelling are important in many orthopaedic conditions and can have an impact on fracture incidence, bone healing, implant failure, and different outcome aspects. There is relatively sparse information on fracture incidence and mortality both for all fractures compiled and for some of the individual fracture locations. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Bone and Aluminium

    Nyckelord :Surgery; Aluminium; Osteoporosis; Hip fracture; Osteoporotic fracture; Alzheimer´s dementia; Bone mineral density; Bone mineral content; Mortality risk; Biomechanics; Inductively coupled mass spectrometry; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Osteoporosis is a major health care problem, by reason of its devastating consequences, in particular hip fractures. Worldwide it has been estimated that the incidence of hip fracture will increase to more than 6 million per year by 2050 compared to 1.7 million per year in 1990. LÄS MER
