  1. 16. Development and characterization of an in vitro method for interaction studies between polymers and pharmaceuticals : Aiding in the development of new drug delivery systems

    Författare :Marcus Wanselius; Per Hansson; Magnus Bergström; Susanna Abrahmsén-Alami; Christian Pedersen; Anna Fureby; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microgels; Subcutaneous administration; Drug delivery; Microfluidics; In vitro methodology; Method development; Biopharmaceuticals; Amphiphilic drugs; Polyelectrolytes; Hyaluronic acid; Peptides; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Polymers are a group of macromolecules used in formulations of pharmaceuticals, one example being the delivery system DC Bead™. Further, some of the most abundant and for drug delivery important constituents of the subcutaneous tissue are charged polymers (polyelectrolytes), e.g. collagen, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate. Sammanfattning : Microfluidics is a field which has the potential to revolutionize medical diagnostics. The ability to sort and analyse cells by the use of portable handheld devices has the potential to enable sensitive devices for point-of-care diagnostics. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Marine biogenic polysaccharides as a potential source of aerosol in the high Arctic : Towards a link between marine biology and cloud formation

    Författare :Qiuju Gao; Caroline Leck; Ulrika Nilsson; Eric Saltzman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polysaccharides; Biogenic polymer microgels; Arctic Ocean; LC MS MS; Surface microlayer; Marine aerosol particles; Remote marine cloud condensation nuclei; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Primary marine aerosol particles containing biogenic polymer microgels play a potential role for cloud formation in the pristine high Arctic summer. One of the major sources of the polymer gels in Arctic aerosol was suggested to be the surface water and more specifically, the surface microlayer (SML) of the open leads within the perennial sea ice as a result of bubble bursting at the air-sea interface. 4. 19. High-throughput screening of solid-phase extraction materials using mass spectrometry

    Författare :Kishore Jagadeesan; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :mass spectromery; protein separation; sample preparation; Molecularly imprinted polymer; Data analysis; Data visualization; Miniaturisation; Proteomics;

    Sammanfattning : In biomarker analysis, sample preparation plays a crucial step in order to extract, isolate and concentrate the analytes of interest. Among the various sample preparation techniques, solid phase extraction (SPE) is one of the most common and popular, due to the high enrichment factor, good recovery, low consumption of organic solvents and the possibility to automate (off- or on-line) the whole process. 5. 20. Structure, Dynamics and Phase Behaviour of Charged Soft Colloidal Dispersions

    Författare :Sofi Nöjd; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microgels; directed self-assembly; interaction potentials; scattering methods; confocal laser scanning microscopy; dielectric spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Soft and deformable ionic microgels such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid), PNIPAM-co-AA, microgels have shown to be a versatile alternative to the already well-established hard sphere model systems. Their tuneable interaction potential makes them well suited as model systems to study the phase behaviour found for particles interacting via a soft isotropic potential. LÄS MER
