  1. 16. Melt-water interactions in a reactor containment : from integrated assesment to phenomenological studies

    Författare :Timo Okkonen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines melt-water interactions for theex-vessel phase of a severe reactor accident. The studies startfrom the development of an assessment methodology that tiestogether the vessel melt release scenarios and the mainprocesses affecting the melt-water interaction effects in thereactor containment. 2. 17. An Experimental Study on Melt Fragmentation, Oxidation and Steam Explosion during Fuel Coolant Interactions

    Författare :Louis Manickam; Weimin Ma; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; severe accident; fuel coolant interactions; melt jet breakup; debris properties; steam explosion; oxidation; high-speed visualization; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Nordic type boiling water reactors (BWRs) adopt reactor cavity flooding as a severe accident mitigation strategy (SAMS) to achieve core melt fragmentation and long-term cooling of decay heat generating core debris. The qualification of this SAMS needs to address two main severe accident issues: debris bed coolability and steam explosion. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Melt convection in welding and crystal growth

    Författare :Minh Do-Quang; Gustav Amberg; Andreas Ludwig; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; thermocapillary convection; gas-tungsten arc welding; floating zone; parallel computing; finite element method; Teknisk fysik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : A parallel finite element code with adaptive meshing was developed and used to study three dimensional, time-dependent fluid flows caused by thermocapillary convection as well as temperature and dopant distribution in fusion welding and floating zone crystal growth. A comprehensive numerical model of the three dimensional time-dependent fluid flows in a weld pool had been developed. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Interface design of biodegradable polyester/nanocellulose biocomposites via reactive melt processing: tailoring of polyester matrix

    Författare :Angelica Avella; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aminolysis; cellulose nanocrystals; wet-feeding; crosslinking; poly ε-caprolactone ; biocomposites; reactive melt processing;

    Sammanfattning : Pushed by the societal awareness of plastic pollution, attempts are being made to find sustainable materials that can minimize the environmental impact of plastics. In this context, biocomposites based on biodegradable polymers and renewable lignocellulose are of interest. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Modelling of macroscopic melt motion in fusion devices

    Författare :Emil Thorén; Svetlana V. Ratynskaia; Panagiotis Tolias; Guy Matthews; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic confinement fusion is one of the most well developed methods envisioned to achieve thermonuclear fusion energy in the future. A central obstacle that remains in the way of safe and sustainable reactor operation is the interaction that occurs between the plasma and vessel wall components. LÄS MER
