  1. 1. Microalgal solutions in Nordic conditions : industries transition toward resource recovery?

    Författare :Lina Mattsson; Catherine Legrand; Elin Lindehoff; Hanna Farnelid; Kristian Spilling; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microalgae; algal cultivation; polyculture; resource recovery; seasonal variation; industrial partnership; CO2 mitigation; nitrogen removal; community composition; Ecology; Ekologi; Environmental Biotechnology; Miljöbioteknik; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Microalgal solutions can through photosynthesis recover greenhouse gas (CO2) and nutrients from industrial waste, reducing climate footprint and eutrophication. An added value to the process is algal biomass containing lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates with commercial potential for biofuel, feed, and fertilizer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sirkas : ett samiskt fångstsamhälle i förändring Kr.f.-1600 e.Kr

    Författare :Inga-Maria Mulk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Sámi; sijdda; northern Sweden; hunting-fishing; reindeer hunting; fur trade; early Iron Age; late Iron Age; medieval time; settlement pattern; seasonal mobility; intensification; hearths; stállo-sites; sacrificial sites; hunting pits; food storage; domestic social space;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation is an investigation of Sirkas-sijdda, a Sámi hunting society in the interior of northern Sweden in the period AD 1-1600. The principal sources are historical evidence for the period around 1600, which saw the beginnings of colonial settlement and reindeer pastoralism, and for the earlier period archaeological data from excavations. 3. 3. The Arctic Atmosphere : Interactions between clouds, boundary-layer turbulence and large-scale circulation

    Författare :Georgia Sotiropoulou; Michael Tjernström; Joseph Sedlar; Susanne Crewell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; mixed-phase clouds; thermodynamic structure; Arctic inversion; cloud-surface interactions; seasonal transition; IFS model; LES; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic climate is changing fast, but weather forecast and climate models have serious deficiencies in representing the Arctic atmosphere, because of the special conditions that occur in this region. The cold ice surface and the advection of warm air aloft from the south result in a semi-continuous presence of a temperature inversion, known as the “Arctic inversion”, which is governed by interacting large-scale and local processes, such as surface fluxes and cloud formation. 4. 4. Arctic clouds - interactions with radiation and thermodynamic structure

    Författare :Joseph Sedlar; Michael Tjernström; Annica Ekman; Johannes Verlinde; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; stratus; radiation; thermodynamic structure; cloud radiative forcing; seasonal transition; Meteorology; Meteorologi; atmosfärvetenskap; Atmospheric Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Clouds play in important role in the climate system through their interaction with radiation. Globally, clouds tend to cool the Earth by reflecting solar radiation and shading the surface. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ecology of nematophagous fungi in agricultural soils

    Författare :Lotta Persmark; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic farming; Fungistasis; Competition; Bacteria; Conidial traps; Rhizosphere; Seasonal variation; Distribution; Endoparasitic; Nematode; Nematode-trapping; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Nematophagous fungi possess various mechanisms for infecting nematodes, and are either obligate parasites or facultative saprophytes. Nematophagous fungi have a potential as biological control agents against plant- and animal-parasitic nematodes. LÄS MER
