36. Network modeling and integrative analysis of high-dimensional genomic data : Nätverksmodellering och integrativ analys av högdimensionell genomikdata
Sammanfattning : Genomic data describe biological systems on the molecular level and are, due to the immense diversity of life, high-dimensional. Network modeling and integrative analysis are powerful methods to interpret genomic data. LÄS MER
37. Statistical inference with deep latent variable models
Sammanfattning : Finding a suitable way to represent information in a dataset is one of the fundamental problems in Artificial Intelligence. With limited labeled information, unsupervised learning algorithms help to discover useful representations. LÄS MER
38. Identification and tuning of algorithmic parameters in parallel matrix computations : Hessenberg reduction and tensor storage format conversion
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers two problems in numerical linear algebra and high performance computing (HPC): (i) the parallelization of a new blocked Hessenberg reduction algorithm using Parallel Cache Assignment (PCA) and the tunability of its algorithm parameters, and (ii) storing and manipulating dense tensors on shared memory HPC systems. The Hessenberg reduction appears in the Aggressive Early Deflation (AED) process for identifying converged eigenvalues in the distributed multishift QR algorithm (state-of-the-art algorithm for computing all eigenvalues for dense square matrices). 40. Studies on extracellular matrix proteins in vascular disease
Sammanfattning : The composition of the vascular extracellular matrix (ECM) is altered during remodeling conditions such as atherosclerosis. The changed ECM regulates events that are important for the progression of disease including smooth muscle cell (SMC) behaviour and collagen fiber formation. LÄS MER
