6. Characterization of some natural and synthetic materials with silicate structures
Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with characterization of silicate structures with a determined morphology and structure such as ordered mesoporous silica and layered silicates. Mesoporous silica groups are amorphous solids exhibiting highly ordered pore structures with narrow pore size distributions and large surface areas. LÄS MER
7. Tribological behaviour of polymers in lubricated contacts
Sammanfattning : An important issue in hydropower and other industries is the increasing demand for introduction of environment friendly solutions. Mineral oil based lubricants have long been used in various sliding bearings in hydropower stations. LÄS MER
9. Secure emergency communications of emergency responders : a case study of Kemi municipality in Finland
Sammanfattning : Emergency response is highly time-critical and information dependent: every moment counts and organizations need to access various information that supports their decision making and informs them about the scale and location of the emergency, the damages, and the availability of human and physical resources. This kind information can originate from many different places and the situation can be stressful as there is a need to communicate quickly, reliably and accurately within their own organization, but also inter-organizationally. 10. Damage evolution in laminates with manufacturing defects
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, experimental investigations and theoretical studies on the stochastic matrix cracking evolution under static loading in composite laminates with manufacturing defects are presented. The presented work demonstrates a methodology that accounts for the statistically distributed defects in damage mechanics models for the assessment of the integrity of composites and for the structural design of composites.
