  1. 16. SUMO and ubiquitin : the yin and yang of IGF-1R function

    Författare :Bita Sehat; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Tumorigenesis is a multistep process involving genetic and epigenetic alterations that drive the progressive transformation of normal human cells into highly malignant derivatives. The insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) plays pivotal roles in cancer. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Molecular factors relevant to the radiosensitivity of human tumours

    Författare :Anya Polischouk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :c-Ha-ras; c-myc; radiosensitivity; DNA double-strand break repair; DNA singlestrand repair;

    Sammanfattning : Oncogenes, activated copies of normal cellular genes, are involved in carcinogenesis and have been suggested to be determinants of cellular radiosensitivity (RS). Mutations and gene rearrangement of c-Ha-RAS and c-MYC oncogenes were analysed in 70 biopsies and 51 blood samples from the same patients and compared with RS estimated by the clinical tumour response and by response to irradiation of tumour samples using subrenal capsule assay. 3. 18. Genotyping RNA and DNA using padlock probes

    Författare :Dan-Oscar Antson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Padlock probe; enzymatic synthesis; PCR; in situ hybridization; RNA-templated DNA ligation; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Novel techniques are needed to investigate the genetic variation revealed in the first draft of the human genome sequence. Padlock probes are recently developed reagents, suitable for detecting single-nucleotide variations of DNA and RNA in situ or in solution. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Modulation of nuclear receptor signaling by RBR ubiquitin ligases

    Författare :Nina Gustafsson Sheppard; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear receptors (NRs) constitute a superfamily of transcription factors and play important roles in physiology. Transcriptional regulation by NRs can be modulated through interactions with various coregulators that activate or repress transcription through mediating receptor and chromatin modifications as well as communicating with the general transcription factor machinery. 5. 20. Functional characterization of the human adenovirus pVII protein and non-coding VA RNAI

    Författare :Raviteja Inturi; Tanel Punga; Goran Akusjarvi; Thomas Dobner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; VA RNA; protein VII; Ubiquitination; proteasome; anti-viral; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human adenovirus (HAdV) is a common pathogen causing a broad spectrum of diseases. HAdV encodes the pVII protein, which is involved in nuclear delivery, protection and expression of viral DNA. To suppress the cellular interferon (IFN) and RNA interference (RNAi) systems, HAdVs encode non-coding virus-associated (VA) RNAs. LÄS MER
