11. Development of Time Resolved Laser Imaging Techniques for Studies of Turbulent Reacting Flows
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis the development and application of a novel laser diagnostic system for high speed spectroscopic imaging of turbulent combustion phenomena is presented. The system is capable of recording sequences of up to 8 images with a separation between consecutive images as short as microseconds. LÄS MER
12. Diagnostic Methods for Composite Insulators with Biological Growth
Sammanfattning : Composite insulators have a number of advantages compared to conventional insulators, but the fact that they are more prone to aging is a major drawback. For instance, biological growths, like algae and fungi, have been found to colonize composite insulators, and possibly effecting the insulation performance. LÄS MER
13. Short-Pulse Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics - Laser-Induced Fluorescence of Polyatomic Molecules and Developments in Measurement and Evaluation
Sammanfattning : Combustion is the most important source of energy worldwide. A better understanding of it is essential if pollutant emissions are to be reduced and combustion devices be made more efficient. This requires measurement of physical and chemical combustion parameters. LÄS MER
14. Sensitivity-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and High-Speed Fluorescence for In Situ Gas-Phase Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : In this work, combustion and thermal decomposition processes were studied employing laser-based diagnostic techniques, and the techniques were improved and demonstrated to achieve enhanced detection sensitivity. Raman spectroscopy was employed to study flames under elevated and atmospheric pressures with various fuels, such as methane, hydrogen-enriched methane, DME, ethylene, and ammonia. LÄS MER
15. Laser-based diagnostics for investigating soot formation in combustion processes
Sammanfattning : In this work, laser-based diagnostic techniques were developed and applied to investigate soot formation in small-scale laboratory burners as well as in practical combustion devices. Quantitative 2D laser-induced incandescence (LII) measurements often use a cylindrical lens to shape the beam and illuminate the planar region of interest. LÄS MER
