  1. 16. Patients’ perspectives on recovery from day surgery

    Författare :Katarina Berg; Karin Kjellgren; Kristofer Årestedt; Ingegerd Bergbom; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ambulatory surgical procedures; continuity of patient care; recovery of function; self care; qualitative research; quality of life; questionnaires; validation studies;

    Sammanfattning : A large number of elective surgical patients in Sweden and elsewhere have their surgical procedure performed in a day surgery context. The surgical care event, with its postoperative surveillance, is brief at the surgery unit and patients are discharged home with the intention that they should manage postoperative recovery mainly themselves. 2. 17. Transpulmonary pressure during mechanical ventilation

    Författare :Christina Grivans; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mechanical ventilation; Acute lung injury; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Lung volume measurements; Electric Impedance diagnostic use; Lung elastance; Transpulmonary pressure; Esophageal pressure;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Mechanical ventilation can aggravate lung injury by repetitive opening and closing of lung units, overdistention and undue pressure on pulmonary structures. Guidelines exist for lung protective ventilation, but individualized ventilator settings, based on partitioning of respiratory mechanics in pulmonary and chest wall complex components, would be beneficial. 3. 18. Developmentally supportive neonatal care : a study of the newborn individualized developmental care and assessment program (NIDCAP) in a Swedish environment

    Författare :Björn Westrup; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : A family-centred, developmentally supportive approach to newborn intensive care, referred to as the Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCAP) has attracted considerable interest in recent years. Studies performed in North America have reported that NIDCAP improves short-term growth, decreases the need for respiratory support, decreases the length and cost of hospitalisation, and improves neurodevelopment. 4. 19. Monitoring alveolar recruitment in the critically ill - Patient studies using electric impedance tomography and volume-dependent compliance

    Författare :Karin Lowhagen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALI; ARDS; compliance; end-expiratory lung volume; EELV; EIT; electric impedance tomography; lung recruitment; morbid obesity; PEEP; recruitment manoeuvre; regional ventilation; volume-dependent compliance;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are associated with a high mortality rate and poor long term outcome in terms of quality of life, for those who survive. Similarly, patients with morbid obesity are at risk for respiratory complications when subjected to anaesthesia and surgery. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Sleep-Wake-Activity and Health-Related Quality of Life in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease and evaluation of an individualized non-pharmacological programme to promote self-care in sleep

    Författare :Anna Johansson; Ulla Edéll-Gustafsson; Jan Ejdebäck; Jan-Erik Broman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Actigraphy; coronary artery disease; health-related quality of life; insomnia; non-pharmacological programme; nursing; self-care management; sleep-activity; sleep quality;

    Sammanfattning : Sleep is a basic need, important to physical and psychological recovery. Insomnia implies sleep-related complaints, such as difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, early awakening, or non-restorative sleep (NRS) in an individual who has adequate circumstances and opportunity to sleep.
