6. YBCO nanowires to study nanoscale ordering in High-Tc Superconductors
Sammanfattning : We present the realization of YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO) nanowires for both basic physics studies, which could help to elucidate the microscopic mechanisms of High critical Temperature Superconductors (HTS), and for novel applications. The first part of the thesis describes an improved nanopatterning procedure, based on e-beam lithography in combination with an amorphous carbon mask and a very gentle Ar+ ion etching. 7. Decoupling and Evaluation of Multiple Antenna Systems in Compact MIMO Terminals
Sammanfattning : Research on multiple antenna systems has been a hot topic in recent years due to the demands for higher transmission rate and more reliable link in rich scattering environment in wireless communications. Using multiple antennas at both the transmitter side and the receiver side increases the channel capacity without additional frequency spectrum and transmitted power. LÄS MER
8. Defects in Austenitic Steels and Hard Metals - A DFT-based Study
Sammanfattning : Materials are never 100% pure due to the limitation of purification method or manufacturing process. Nor are they perfect, especially under deformation. The present work aims to explore different roles played by the defects in austenitic steels and hard metals. LÄS MER
9. Effects of Non-uniform Fiber Distribution on Fiber/matrix Interface Crack Propagation in Polymeric Composites
Sammanfattning : Fiber/matrix interface cracking plays an important role in determining the final failureof unidirectional (UD) composites. When subjected to longitudinally tensile loading,fiber/matrix interface debonds originate from fiber breaks or initial defects propagatealong loading direction. LÄS MER
10. Epitaxial Growth and Characterization of SiC for High Power Devices
Sammanfattning : Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a semiconductor with a set of superior properties, including wide bandgap, high thermal conductivity, high critical electric field and high electron mobility. This makes it an excellent material for unipolar and bipolar electronic device applications that can operate under high temperature and high power conditions. LÄS MER
