11. Oceanographic studies of the Baltic Sea with emphasis on sea ice and mixing processes
Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises of model estimates of the water and heat budgets, re-estimating of the budget of deep-water mixing energy, model studies of generation mechanisms for internal waves, sea ice dynamermics and finally sea ice monitoring. Common site for all the studies are the Baltic Sea. LÄS MER
12. Guided Wave Propagation in Composite Structures; Application to ice detection on wind turbine blades
Sammanfattning : Guided waves are an efficient non-destructive tool in inspection and fault detection of elongated structures. Due to the special characteristics of composite materials, study of guided wave propagation in them has been an interest. LÄS MER
13. Modelling ice surface elevation changes in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica : Bridging the gap between in-situ and numerical model reconstructions
Sammanfattning : Ice sheets are an active component of Earth's climate system. Their topography influences atmospheric circulation and changes in their volume alters freshwater fluxes to the oceans, affecting ocean water masses, atmospheric carbon uptake, and global sea level. LÄS MER
14. Event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis outlines an event stratigraphy for the Last Glacial-Holocene transition in eastern middle Sweden. Events are short-lived occurrences that have left traces in the geological record and which, therefore, may be used for correlation and inter-regional comparisons. LÄS MER
15. Experiments and simulations on the mechanics of ice and snow
Sammanfattning : In this study, experiments and simulations were conducted to investigate ice and snow. The ice sintering force as a function of temperature, pressing force (contact load), contact duration, and particle size during the primary stage of sintering was formulated using experimental methods along with an approximate, semi-analytic, close-form solution.
