11. Bi2212 intrinsic Josephson junctions, fabrication and high frequency properties
Sammanfattning : The objective for this work was to investigate the high-frequency properties of Bi2212 intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJ’s). Particularly, the possibility to reach the THz range with a SIS mixer is theoretically promising due to the high energy gap of Bi2212. LÄS MER
12. Cold-Electron Bolometer with Superconductor-Insulator-Normal Metal Tunnel Junctions
Sammanfattning : The Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) is an ultrasensitive device designed for the detection of radiation in the terahertz region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The key to its sensitivity is the electron cooling of the absorber by the superconductor-insulator-normal metal (SIN) tunnel junction. LÄS MER
13. Nonequilibrium Effects in Mesoscopic Josephson Junctions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present a unified scattering approach to current transport in mesoscopic Josephson junctions out of equilibrium. A nonequilibrium situation is created by either quasiparticle injection into the normal part of the junction, or by applying a dc-voltage between the two superconducting electrodes. LÄS MER
14. Spin-dependant transport in lateral nano-devices based on magnetic tunnel junctions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an experimental study of spin dependent transport in nanoscale ferromagnetic tunnel junction arrays and lateral multi-terminal devices with normal metal and superconducting spin transport channels. Two-, three-, and five-junction arrays have been fabricated in the form of lateral circuits and characterized using variable temperature magneto-transport measurements. LÄS MER
15. Mechanistical studies on gap junctions and their role in tumour promotion : structure-activity relationships of polychlorinated biphelyls
Sammanfattning : Chemically induced carcinogenesis is a multi-stage process that can be divided into at least three major stages, initiation, promotion and progression. The promotion stage involves clonal expansion of genetically altered cells (i.e. initiated cells). LÄS MER
