  1. 6. Generation of Leachate and the Flow Regime in Landfills

    Författare :David Bendz; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; teknisk geologi; Hydrogeologi; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeology; model; transport; flow; leachate; water; hydrology; landfill; MSW; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental impacts of landfills are associated mainly with the emission of leachate and biogas. Sanitary landfilling aims to stabilize the landfill in a efficient and controlled way, so that the environmental impacts are minimized. When a sanitary landfill has attained its final storage quality, it can be integrated into the environment. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Three-Dimensional Simulation and Physical Modelling of Flows in Detention Tanks - Studies of Flow Pattern, Residence Time and Sedimentation

    Författare :Åsa Adamsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tracer study; pond; numerical simulation; particle tracking; CFD; bed shear stress; storage tank; stormwater; detention tank; flow pattern;

    Sammanfattning : Improving effluent water quality to receiving waters using stormwater ponds and storage tanks is acknowledged to be an effective method. The performance of the method depends however on flow conditions such as velocity distribution, short-circuiting currents and the volume through which the influent water flows, the so called effective volume. 3. 8. Numerical study on flow and pollutant dispersion inside street canyons

    Författare :Yang Yunkai; Martinac Ivo; Peng Shia-Hui; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flow; Pollutant dispersion; CFD; Street canyon; Reliability; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis analyzes the characteristics of flow pattern and vehicle-emitted pollutant dispersion in roughness surface layer. In an urban environment, wind flow and transported-pollutant source interfere strongly with buildings and other roughness elements on the surface ground, which results in complex characteristics of flow pattern and pollutant dispersion in 3D circumstances. 4. 9. A study of flow fields during filling of a sampler

    Författare :Zhi Zhang; Pär Jönsson; Dongyuan Sheng; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; physical modeling; flow pattern; vortex; filling; PIV; sampler; simulation; turbulence; Wilcox k-ω model; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Sammanfattning : More and more attention has been paid to decreasing the number and size of non-metallic inclusions existing in the final products recently in steel industries. Therefore, more efforts have been made to monitor the inclusions' size distributions during the metallurgy process, especially at the secondary steelmaking period. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Flow Boiling Heat Transfer in Single Vertical Channels of Small Diameter

    Författare :Claudi Martin Callizo; Björn Palm; Predrag Hrnjak; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microchannel; heat exchanger; heat transfer; flow boiling; flow patterns; onset of nucleate boiling; dryout; critical heat flux; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Microchannel heat exchangers present many advantages, such as reduced size, high thermal efficiency and low fluid inventory; and are increasingly being used for heat transfer in a wide variety of applications including heat pumps, automotive air conditioners and for cooling of electronics.However, the fundamentals of fluid flow and heat transfer in microscalegeometries are not yet fully understood.
