  1. 16. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Compressible Jets

    Författare :Bernhard Semlitsch; Mihai Mihaescu; Laszlo Fuchs; Paul G. Tucker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compressible Flow; Large Eddy Simulation; Acoustic Noise Generation; Near-field Acoustics; Flow Control; Optimization; Modal Flow Decomposition; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Acoustic noise pollution is an environmental aggressor in everyday life. Aero- dynamically generated noise annoys and was linked with health issues. It may be caused by high-speed turbulent free flows (e.g. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Solids Flow Pattern in Circulating Fluidized-bed Boilers

    Författare :Andreas Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; scale-up; hydrodynamics; combustion; loop seal; wall-layers; Circulating Fluidized Bed;

    Sammanfattning : The background of this dissertation is the knowledge of circulating fluidized bed (CFB)technology, which has reached a level enabling units of several hundred megawatts ofelectricity to be constructed and employed. Yet an improved understanding of the technologyis needed in order to further develop and optimize large-scale combustion in CFB boilers,especially since the operating conditions and the geometries of large boilers differ from thosetypical for laboratory units, in which most of the research hitherto has been performed. 4. 19. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process

    Författare :Yang Ying; Pär Jönsson; Dong-Yuan Sheng; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion behaviour; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry no zzle; mold;

    Sammanfattning : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work. 5. 20. Numerical modelling of fluid flow and particle transport in rough rock fracture during shear

    Författare :Tomofumi Koyama; Lahru Jing; Auli Niemi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; single rock fracture; coupled stress-flow test; shear displacement; fluid flow; particle; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of different shearing processes and sample sizes on the fluid flow anisotropy and its impact on particle transport process in rough rock fractures are significant factors that need to be considered in the performance and safety assessments of underground nuclear waste repositories. The subjects, however, have not been adequately investigated previously in either laboratory experiments or numerical modeling. LÄS MER
