  1. 1. The threat from non indigenous species - ecosystem vulnerability, global distribution and co-occurrence with other major threats

    Författare :Helena Berglund; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; threats; distribution range; isolation; endemism; invasions; invaders; vulnerability; non indigenous species; rarity; threatened species;

    Sammanfattning : We live in a globalised world where people and goods travel large distances. Various species are brought along on these journeys, intentionally or as hitchhikers. Some of these species establish populations in regions to which they could not have spread without human assistance, and where they are considered to be non indigenous species (NIS). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Origin, evolution and biodiversity of the Neotropical herpetofauna: patterns and processes of the world’s richest and most threatened biota

    Författare :Josué Azevedo; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Amazonia; biodiversity indices; Cerrado; integrative taxonomy; phylogenetic endemism; phylogenetic turnover;

    Sammanfattning : The biological diversity of tropical America (the Neotropics) is astonishing. However, even among terrestrial vertebrates, most biogeographical patterns are not fully described nor understood, especially for many Neotropical reptiles and amphibians (the herpetofauna). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Spatiotemporal Evolution of Neotropical Organisms: New Insights into an Old Riddle

    Författare :Alexandre Antonelli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neotropics; Biodiversity patterns; Speciation models; Andean uplift; K T Event; Biogeography; Phylogenetics; Molecular dating; Rubiaceae; Chloranthaceae; Campanulaceae; Tetrapods; Biological systematics;

    Sammanfattning : Nowhere else on Earth are there so many species of plants and animals as in the Neotropical region. Yet, many questions remain concerning the causes underlying such outstanding diversification. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Systematics and Biogeography of Western Indian Ocean Region Rubiaceae : examples from Danaideae, Hymenodictyeae, and Naucleeae

    Författare :Åsa Krüger; Sylvain Razafimandimbison; Mary Endress; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the systematics and biogeography of the tribes Danaideae, Hymenodictyeae, and Naucleeae in the angiosperm family Rubiaceae (coffee family), with a special interest in the Western Indian Ocean region (WIOR). The levels of endemism in the WIOR are remarkably high and Madagascar is the largest island surrounded by three main archipelagos with islands of various age and size. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Phylogenetics and taxonomy of the Gorteria clade (Asteraceae-Arctotideae)

    Författare :Frida Stångberg; Arne Anderberg; Christoph Oberprieler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; växtsystematik; Plant Systematics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the systematics of the Gorteria-Gazania-Hirpicium-clade within the tribe Arctotideae-Gorteriinae in the angiosperm family Asteraceae. The group is found in southern Africa, with many representatives in the Greater Cape Floristic Region in South Africa, an area known for its high species richness and endemism. LÄS MER
