11. Fatigue of Spot Welded Joints: Experiments and Life Predictions
Sammanfattning : Methods to assess the fatigue strength of spot welds in built-up structures are used on a daily basis in the automotive industry. Efficient and reliable numerical methods make it possible to achieve designs with low weight, low manufacturing costs and good durability within short development cycles, since the number of prototypes built can be reduced. 12. Micromechanics of Powder Compaction
Sammanfattning : Compaction of powders followed by sintering is a convenient manufacturing method for products of complex shape and components of materials that are difficult to produce using conventional metallurgy. During the compaction and the handling of the unsintered compact, defects can develop which could remain in the final sintered product. LÄS MER
13. Constitutive equations for concrete materials subjected to high rate of loading
Sammanfattning : Continuum mechanics is used to model the mechanical behaviour of concrete structures subjected to high rates of loading in defence applications. Large deformation theory is used and an isotropic elastic-plastic constitutive equation with isotropic hardening, damage and strain rate dependent loading surface. LÄS MER
14. A study of the fatigue behaviour of laser and hybrid laser welds
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis focuses on the fatigue cracking behaviour of laser and hybrid laser-MAG welded structures. Beside the welding process and the resulting weld, several topics related to fatigue of welded structures are treated such as; macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and their influence on fatigue performance of welded structures, fatigue analysis by the nominal and effective notch stress method, fatigue life prediction using LEFM (Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics), fatigue testing, metallurgical analysis, elastic and elastic-plastic finite element analysis. 15. Micromechanical Behavior of Fiber Networks
Sammanfattning : Paper is used in a wide range of applications, each of which has specific requirements on mechanical and surface properties. The role of paper strength on paper performance is still not well understood. This work addresses the mechanical properties of paper by utilizing fiber network simulation and consists of two parts.
