16. “All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace” : Activist Practices in an Era of Mediatized Surveillance
Sammanfattning : One of the defining features of contemporary zeitgeist is that we live in an era of mediatization – a metaprocess, through (and by) which all everyday relations increasingly depend on networked media technologies and online communication channels.Due to rapid developments in digital electronics, all these Internet- or mobile-enabled platforms, and devices, are prone to the processes of quantification and datafication, and as such, surveillance is a principal dimension that lies at the core of mediatization. 17. Driving under the Influence Strategic Trade Policy and Market Integration in the European Car Industry
Sammanfattning : State policy intervention in the economy has been a ubiquitous phenomenon in history. Varying in form and intensity, it has had a profound impact on trade, welfare, international relations, and political and economic thinking. This thesis provides an inclusive analysis of policy action in the European car industry. LÄS MER
18. Drift and Mirror Modes in Magnetized Plasmas
Sammanfattning : Low frequency plasma instabilities driven by plasma inhomogeneity and velocity anisotropies are major candidates for the explanation of various phenomena observed in fusion and space plasmas. For low-β fusion plasma, the influence of plasma rotation and finite ion temperature on the structure and the type of toroidal drift eigenmodes in tokamaks is investigated rigorously, including the effects induced by the toroidal geometry such as the coupling mode, the radial variation of plasma rotation velocity and the magnetic shear. 19. Multivariate linear normal models with special references to the growth curve model
Sammanfattning : The Growth Curve Model (GMAN0VA) introduced by Potthoff & Roy (1964) and two extensions are considered. The first extension treats a Growth Curve Model with concomitant variables whereas the second is applicable when different growth curves or when linear restrictions on the parameter space, describing the mean structure in the Growth Curve Model, exist. 20. Tight-binding calculations of electron scattering rates in semiconducting zigzag carbon nanotubes
Sammanfattning : The technological interest in a material depends very much on its electrical, magnetic, optical and/or mechanical properties. In carbon nanotubes the atoms form a cylindrical structure with a diameter of the order 1 nm, but the nanotubes can be up to several hundred micrometers in length. LÄS MER
