  1. 6. Confined Compression of Single Particles : Development of a Novel Triaxial Testing Instrument and Particle-Scale Modelling

    Författare :Henrik Jonsson; Göran Frenning; Göran Alderborn; Abderrahim Michrafy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Powder compaction; Compression; Single particle; Particle mechanics; Powder mechanics; Confined conditions; Triaxial; Apparatus design; Modelling; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : When predicting the performance of a powder compaction process, assessing the behaviour of the particles comprising the powder bed is of central relevance. Currently, however, no experimental methods are available for mimicking the multiaxial loading conditions imposed on the individual particles in a powder bed during compaction, and such analyses are therefore usually performed in silico. 2. 7. Numerical Study of Dispersed Two-phase Flows

    Författare :Zhilei Wu; Strömningsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; Teknik; Technological sciences; Eulerian Lagrangian model.; Eulerian Eulerian model; Lagrangian Particle Tracking; Large Eddy Simulation; Two-phase flow; Particle Image Velocimetry; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers the numerical study of dispersed two-phase flows.Numerical simulations have been done to investigate the particle trasportation/dispersion effect in turbulent two-phase flows. Both turbulent bubble/water flows and turbulent particle/air flows are studied. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Numerical Modelling of Self-Compacting Concrete Flow : Discrete and Continuous Approach

    Författare :Annika Gram; Johan Silfwerbrand; Ali Farhang; Mette R. Geiker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SCC; rheology; Simulation of Flow; Simulering; Flöde; Självkompakterande Betong; Reologi; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : With the advent of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC) that flows freely, under the soleinfluence of gravity, the wish for hassle-free and predictable castings even in complexcases, spurged the simulation of concrete flow as a means to model and predictconcrete workability. To achieve complete and reliable form filling with smoothsurfaces of the concrete, the reinforced formwork geometry must be compatible withthe rheology of the fresh SCC. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Mechanisms of adhesive mixing for drug particle inhalation (Numerical investigation of the interplay between formulation variables)

    Författare :Mohammadreza Tamadondar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Discrete Element Method; Agglomerate; Carrier Particle; Adhesive mixing; Dispersion; DPI-formulation;

    Sammanfattning : Formulation of therapeutic dry powders for lung drug delivery via inhalation is done via adhesive mixing. In this process, micron-sized active pharmaceutical ingredient particles are blended with relatively coarse carrier particles until stable adhesive units of carrier and drug particles are formed. 5. 10. Classification of Normal Discrete Kinetic Models

    Författare :Mirela Christina Vinerean; Alexander Bobylev; Mirela Vinerean-Bernhoff; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kinetic theory; discrete kinetic velocity models; conservation laws; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : “In many interesting papers on discrete velocity models (DVMs), authors postulate from the beginning that the finite velocity space with "good" properties is given and only after this step they study the Discrete Boltzmann Equation. Contrary to this approach, our aim is not to study the equation, but to discuss all possible choices of finite phase spaces (sets) satisfying this type of "good" restrictions. LÄS MER
