  1. 1. Condensation and frost formation in fibrous thermal-insulation materials

    Författare :Tomáš Vrána; Folke Björk; Ove Söderström; Kjartan Gudmundsson; Carsten Rode; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fibrous thermal insulation; Stone wool; Cellulose; MAterial properties; Moisture transport; Condensation; Frost formation; Exterior conditions; Interior conditions; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Heavily insulated constructions are at present being used to strike at the vast energy consumption in residential buildings and commercial alike. They introduce a high-thickness layer of thermal insulation in the building envelopes. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Light-weighting Methodology in Rail Vehicle Design through Introduction of Load Carrying Sandwich Panels

    Författare :David Wennberg; Sebastian Stichel; Per Wennhage; Ragnar Larsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sandwich panels; rail vehicle; lightweight; optimisation; carbody; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik; Construction engineering; Konstruktionsteknik; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Lightweight design in rail vehicles has been important for quite some time. Structures have been optimised to fulfill their purpose and cut unnecessary weight to reach allowable axle loads. Classically this is done by using steel, thin-walled structures, throughout the car body, or, alternatively, power-pressed aluminum profiles. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Wear resistant low friction coatings for engine components

    Författare :Per Lindholm; Sören Andersson; Rickard Larker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering materials; cam; roller follower; carbon coating; engine test; finite element method; Konstruktionsmaterial; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Engine development today is driven by cost, performance and government regulations. Customers want cars and trucks to consume less fuel, last longer, pollute less and be safer. Several of the requirements have tribological associations. For example, product longevity can be improved by lowering friction and using more wear-resistant components. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Influences of the Graphite Phase on Elastic and Plastic Deformation Behaviour of Cast Irons

    Författare :Torsten Sjögren; Ingvar L. Svensson; Sten Johansson; Jorge Sikora; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cast iron; Flake graphite; Compacted graphite; Spheroidal graphite; Elastic deformation; Plastic deformation; Modulus of elasticity; Graphite modulus of elasticity; Strength coefficient; Strain hardening exponent; Acoustic emission; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : The amount and morphology of the graphite phase largely controls the resulting properties of cast iron. For instance, in flake graphite cast irons the mechanical properties are low while the thermal conductivity is high. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Elastic properties and phase stability of shape memory alloys from first-principles theory

    Författare :Chun-Mei Li; Levente Vitos; Denis Music; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Construction materials; Konstruktionsmaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Ni-Mn-Ga and In-Tl are two examples of shape memory alloys. Their shape memory effect is controlled by the martensitic transformation from the high temperature cubic phase to the low temperature tetragonal phase. Experimentally, it was found that the martensitic transformation, related to the elastic properties, is highly composition-dependent. LÄS MER
