6. Novel Processing and Electrical Characterization of Nanowires
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates novel electrical nanowire characterization tools and devices. Conventional characterization methods, long available to bulk semiconductor samples, have been adapted and transferred to the nanowire geometry. LÄS MER
7. Studies on Retinal Circulation in Experimental Animals, Healthy Human Eyes and Eyes with Diabetic Retinopathy
Sammanfattning : The retina is a highly metabolically active tissue with large demands on the supply of nutrients. Disorders affecting the retina often include some vasculopathy with an impact on retinal circulation. LÄS MER
8. On efficient and adaptive modelling of friction damping in bladed disks
Sammanfattning : This work focuses on efficient modelling and adaptive control of friction damping in bladed disks. To efficiently simulate the friction contact, a full-3D time-discrete contact model is reformulated and an analytical expression for the Jacobian matrix is derived that reduces the computation time drastically with respect to the classical finite difference method. 9. Laminar and turbulent particle laden flows : a numerical and experimental study
Sammanfattning : Particle laden flows are widespread in nature and in industrial applications. Dust storms, geophysical flows, pharmaceutical processes, fluidized beds and blood flow are only a few examples. Both global and local properties of a particle laden flow may alter significantly in comparison to the corresponding single phase flow. LÄS MER
10. InP-based photonic crystals : Processing, Material properties and Dispersion effects
Sammanfattning : Photonic crystals (PhCs) are periodic dielectric structures that exhibit a photonic bandgap, i.e., a range of wavelength for which light propagation is forbidden. The special band structure related dispersion properties offer a realm of novel functionalities and interesting physical phenomena. LÄS MER
