6. Industrial energy efficiency improvement – the role of policy and evaluation
Sammanfattning : At EU and to a varying degree at Member State (MS) level, industrial energy efficiency improvement (EEI) is considered an attractive means for reaching political objectives of different dimensions, not least environmental. For energy-intensive manufacturing industry in particular, EEI can lead to cost reductions, improved profitability and competitiveness. LÄS MER
7. Energy and Security: Exploring Renewable and Efficient Energy Systems
Sammanfattning : Mitigating climate change will affect energy systems and have consequences that reach beyond environmental policies. The studies presented in this thesis analyse how reducing emissions of greenhouse gases affect (energy) security. The focus is on strategies which improve energy efficiency or increase the share of renewable energy. LÄS MER
8. New Tides in Shipping : Studying incumbent firms in maritime energy transitions
Sammanfattning : Shipping is a cornerstone of global transportation responsible for moving large volumes of traded goods. At the same time, negative environmental impacts of shipping operations have attracted growing concerns. LÄS MER
9. Decarbonising plastics – On the technologies and framings of carbon capture and utilisation
Sammanfattning : Plastics consist of fossil fuels, from both a feedstock and energy perspective and thus need to decarbonise. This thesis maps and explores the framings and technologies that surround plastics decarbonisation and the potential mitigation pathway of carbon capture and utilisation. Here, three of the main findings are presented. LÄS MER
10. Green growth and rapid decarbonisation? : Assessing policy objectives, instrument choice and behavioural mechanisms
Sammanfattning : After the 2008/2009 global financial crisis, significant policy and scientific attention has been given to ‘green growth’, which aims at the concurrent achievement of economic growth and GHG emissions reductions via de-coupling. Despite ambitious aims, there is a lack of empirical knowledge about the effects and the potential of green growth climate mitigation policies. LÄS MER
