  1. 6. Plant community assembly during succession from arable fields to semi-natural grassland

    Författare :Barbara Christine Schmid; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diversity; arable-to-grassland succession; space-for-time approach; land-use history; plant community assembly; grazing management; connectivity measures; dispersal vector; vascular plants; grassland specialist conservation;

    Sammanfattning : Large areas of grazed, species rich semi-natural grassland were lost in Europe during the last two centuries and as a consequence led to decreases in grassland specialist species. Therefore, today the “restoration” of grassland on previously arable fields is recommended for the protection of grassland specialists. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Food Web Ecology -- individual life-histories and ecological processes shape complex communities

    Författare :Martin Hartvig; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; food web; community ecology; community assembly; size-structure; life-history omnivory; ontogeny; trophic interactions; trait based model; topology; emergent organisation; size-spectrum;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis sets out a food web framework for size-structured populations. The framework enables an ecological approach to food web modelling as the individual life-history from birth, through maturation, and ultimately death is explicitly resolved with the use of bioenergetics based on individual body size. 3. 8. Assembly Mechanisms in Aquatic Bacterial Communities : The Role of Disturbances, Dispersal and History

    Författare :Mercè Berga Quintana; Silke Langenheder; Eva Lindström; Örjan Östman; Mathew Leibold; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diversity; community composition; metacommunity;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental conditions, biotic interactions, dispersal and history have been suggested to be important processes influencing the spatial distribution of organisms and thus to affect community assembly. Understanding how these processes influence community assembly is important, particularly because community diversity and composition are suggested to be relevant for ecosystem functioning. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Community Assembly and Spatial Ecology of Saproxylic Coleoptera

    Författare :Jonas Victorsson; Mats Björklund; Stefan Ås; Anne Magurran; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi; Animal Ecology; zooekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Community assembly is the process deciding inclusion/exclusion of species in a developing community. Spatial ecology integrates spatial habitat factors with local biotic interactions within a given patch. I used standardized tree bolts (0.35-1 m long) to sample saproxylic (wood living) beetles in natural and managed forest types. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Influence of electrode material and stochastic factors on the performance and microbial community assembly in microbial electrochemical systems

    Författare :Marie Abadikhah; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microbial community assembly; bioanode; biocathode; biochemical system;

    Sammanfattning : Microbial electrolysis cells (MECs) are systems with microbial communities in the form of biofilms on electrode surfaces. The electrogenic bacteria in the anode biofilm act as catalysts for the oxidization of organic compounds, leading to release of electrons, generation of electrical current, and production of hydrogen and methane at the cathode.
