16. Cell adhesion proteins in different invasive patterns of colon carcinomas : a morphometric and molecular genetic study
Sammanfattning : Colorectal carcinoma is the second most common type of cancer in both men and women in Sweden. Cancer of the colon and rectum are often considered together and their ten year survival rate is approximately 50 – 60 % depending on sex and location. LÄS MER
17. Intervertebral disc degeneration in dogs
Sammanfattning : Back pain is common in both dogs and humans, and is often associated with intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration. The IVDs are essential structures of the spine and degeneration can ultimately result in diseases such as IVD herniation or spinal instability. LÄS MER
18. Prostate Cancer Diagnosis : experimental and Clinical Studies With HRMAS NMR Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : A few abnormal cells found in a small piece of prostate tissue are most consequential for a man’s future. The prevalence of prostate cancer (PCa) is increasing globally. LÄS MER
19. Metal artifacts in computed tomography : impact of reduction methods on image quality and radiotherapy treatment planning
Sammanfattning : Degradation of image quality by metal artifacts is a common problem in computed tomography (CT) imaging, which can limit the diagnostic value of a CT examination and also introduce inaccuracies in radiotherapy (RT) treatment planning. In recent years, commercial metal artifact reduction (MAR) methods have been launched by several CT vendors. LÄS MER
20. Development of methods and strategies for optimisation of x-ray examinations
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the work presented in this thesis was to develop methods and strategies for the optimisation process prescribed by legal authorities for medical X-ray imaging. This overall aim was divided into four detailed aims: 1) to analyse and describe the conditions for the optimisation of a given projectional X-ray examination in a digital environment, 2) to develop an overall strategy for the optimisation work in a radiology department, 3) to develop and implement a suitable method for statistical analysis of visual grading characteristics (VGC) data, and, 4) to evaluate the characteristics of the new statistical method by comparison with receiver operating characteristics (ROC) statistical methodology and by simulations.
