  1. 1. Extending MRI to the Quantification of Turbulence Intensity

    Författare :Petter Dyverfeldt; Tino Ebbers; Krishna Nayak; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbulence intensity; cardiovascular disease; blood flow; hemodynamics; magnetic resonance imaging; generalized phase-contrast MRI; turbulent flow; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : In cardiovascular medicine, the assessment of blood flow is fundamental to the understanding and detection of disease. Many pharmaceutical, interventional, and surgical treatments impact the flow. The primary purpose of the cardiovascular system is to drive, control and maintain blood flow to all parts of the body. 2. 2. Assessment of cerebrospinal fluid system dynamics : novel infusion protocol, mathematical modelling and parameter estimation for hydrocephalus investigations

    Författare :Kennet Andersson; Anders Eklund; Karin Wårdell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicinsk teknik; hydrocefalus; infusionstest; utflödeskonduktans; systemidentifiering; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) have a disturbance in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) system. The treatment is neurosurgical – a shunt is placed in the CSF system. The infusion test is used to assess CSF system dynamics and to aid in the selection of patients that will benefit from shunt surgery. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of microvascular and metabolic responses in the skin

    Författare :Fredrik Iredahl; Erik Tesselaar; Folke Sjöberg; Simon Farnebo; Sven Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this project was to develop experimental in vivo models that allow for minimally invasive investigations of responses in the skin to microvascular and metabolic provocations. The cutaneous microvasculature has emerged as a valuable model and been proposed to mirror the microcirculation in other organs. LÄS MER
