  1. 1. Influence of railway wheel tread damage and track properties on wheelset durability – Field tests and numerical simulations

    Författare :Michele Maglio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamic wheel–rail interaction; axle stresses; railway wheel tread damage; wheelset durability; instrumented wheelset; rail vehicle maintenance; wheel–rail impact loads;

    Sammanfattning : Wheel tread damage leading to high magnitudes of vertical wheel–rail contact forces is a major cause of train delays in the Swedish railway network, particularly during the coldest months of the year. According to regulations, vehicles generating wheel–rail impact loads exceeding the limit values must be taken out of service for wheel maintenance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Influence of wheel tread damage on wheelset and track loading – Field tests and numerical simulations

    Författare :Michele Maglio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : Wheel tread damage leading to high magnitudes of vertical wheel–rail contact forces is a major cause of train delays in the Swedish railway network, in particular during the coldest months of the year. According to regulations, vehicles generating contact forces exceeding the limit value for allowed wheel–rail impact loads must be taken out of service for wheel maintenance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Laser cladded steel - microstructures and mechanical properties of relevance for railway applications

    Författare :Simon Niederhauser; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fe-Cr alloy; Carbon Steel; Microstructure; Internal Stresses; HAZ; Laser Cladding; Co-Cr alloy; Cracking Behaviour; Mechanical Properties; Low Cycle Fatigue;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to increased requirements like increased axle load for railway wheels and rails, new material have to be employed. However, these requirements are mostly surface related, which makes it appropriate to change only the surface layer while keeping the bulk unchanged. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Railway Wheelsets: Theory, Experiments and Design Considering Temperatures, Stresses and Deformations as Induced by Braking Loads and Contact Forces

    Författare :Mikael Fermér; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Railway wheelset components exposed to braking loads and contact forces have been studied. The work has been performed in close cooperation with the Swedish wheelset manufacturer ABB SURA Traction AB, and it has resulted in one brake disc prototype and two different wheel prototypes. 5. 5. Continuous Welded Railway Rails: Residual Stress Analyses, Fatigue Assessments and Experiments

    Författare :Anders Skyttebol; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microstructure; laser cladding; plasticity; rolling contact; computational welding mechanics; materials testing; flash butt welding; fatigue; railway rails; fatigue crack propagation; finite element method;

    Sammanfattning : Railway rails are today often continuously welded. This type of joint generally requires less maintenance than is needed for the bolted joints. It has also reduced wheel damage and made the ride more comfortable. However, these joints are subject to damage. LÄS MER
