  1. 1. Influence of wheel tread damage on wheelset and track loading – Field tests and numerical simulations

    Författare :Michele Maglio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; axle stress; instrumented wheelset; impact loads; dynamic wheel–rail interaction; wheelset maintenance; wheel tread damage;

    Sammanfattning : Wheel tread damage leading to high magnitudes of vertical wheel–rail contact forces is a major cause of train delays in the Swedish railway network, in particular during the coldest months of the year. According to regulations, vehicles generating contact forces exceeding the limit value for allowed wheel–rail impact loads must be taken out of service for wheel maintenance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Railway Wheel Flats. Martensite Formation, Residual Stresses, and Crack Propagation

    Författare :Johan Jergeus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sliding contact; metallographic investigation; crack propagation; thermal shock; constitutive modelling; phase transformations; railway wheel flats; full-scale field experiments; transformation plasticity; tread damage; residual stresses; spalling; martensite formation;

    Sammanfattning : A railway wheel flat is a flat spot on the rolling surface of a wheel caused by its unintentional sliding on the rail. The reason for the sliding may be poorly adjusted, frozen or defect brakes, or too high braking forces in relation to the available wheel/rail adhesion. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tread Braking of Railway Wheels - Noise-related Tread Roughness and Dimensioning Wheel Temperatures

    Författare :Tore V Vernersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rail chill; block material; temperature; heat partitioning; railway; corrugation; thermoelastic analysis; tread braking; noise;

    Sammanfattning : Block braking is a commonly used braking system for freight wagons and other types of railway vehicles. One or several brake blocks are pressed against the tread (running surface) of the wheel, which is also in rolling contact with the rail. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Simulation and Measurement of Wheel on Rail Fatigue and Wear

    Författare :Babette Dirks; Mats Berg; Roger Enblom; Mark Burstow; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :multibody simulations; prediction; wear; RCF; wheel; rail; cracks; measurements; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The life of railway wheels and rails has been decreasing in recent years. This is mainly caused by more traffic and running at higher vehicle speed. LÄS MER
