  1. 11. Computer Experiments Designed to Explore and Approximate Complex Deterministic Models

    Författare :Davood Shahsavani; Anders Grimvall; Stefano Tarantola; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; computer and systems science; Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Computer experiments are widely used to investigate how technical, economic, and ecological systems respond to changes in inputs or driving forces. This thesis is focused on design of computer experiments that can help us better understand the output from complex computer code models. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Batch Sorption Studies of Aqueous Cadmium and Lead from Contaminated Water onto Selected Biosorbents

    Författare :Grace Kizito Bakyayita; Ann-Catrine Norrström; Robinah N. Kulabako; Maimuna Nalubega; Roger Thunvik; Ann-Margret Hvitt Strömvall; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biosorbents; cadmium; competitive uptake; Freundlich; pseudo-second-order kinetics; Langmuir; lead; remediation; risks; speciation; toxicity effects; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Groundwater, wastewater, surface runoff and surface water samples from Lake Victoria basin, Uganda was assessed for trace metals contamination. Untreated, base-treated and peroxide-treated biosorbents from Albizia coriaria, Coffea canephora, Cyperus papyrus, Erythrina abyssinica and Musa spp were investigated for removal of selected trace metals from contaminated water in batch studies. 3. 13. Spatiotemporal streamflow variability in a boreal landscape : Importance of landscape composition for catchment hydrological functioning

    Författare :Reinert Huseby Karlsen; Jan Seibert; Kevin Bishop; Thomas Grabs; Sarah E. Godsey; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; streamflow; catchment hydrology; boreal; water balance; spatiotemporal variability; landscape analysis; climate change; recession curve; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : The understanding of how different parts of a landscape contribute to streamflow by storing and releasing water has long been a central issue in hydrology. Knowledge about what controls streamflow dynamics across landscapes can further our understanding of how catchments store and release water, facilitate predictions for ungauged catchments, and improve the management of water quality and resources. 4. 14. Export and sources of organic carbon in the Lena River basin, Northeastern Siberia

    Författare :Liselott Kutscher; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Per Andersson; Don Porcelli; Peter Raymond; Sebastian Sobek; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic carbon; DOC; POC; organic matter; NOM; DOM; POM; Lena River; organsikt kol; DOC; POC; organiskt material; NOM; DOM; POM; Lenafloden; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Permafrost areas are considered to be one of the largest terrestrial storages of carbon. In a warming climate these areas are expected to experience changes in carbon transport to rivers and the oceans due to permafrost thawing, which could enhance erosion, change water flow pathways and increase greenhouse gas emissions. 5. 15. On the governmentalization of sustainability : the case of flood risk mitigation in Sweden

    Författare :Per Becker; Roine Johansson; Jörgen Sparf; Karin Ingold; Mittuniversitetet; []
