    Sammanfattning : The two main factors limiting the data throughput in modern fiber-optic communication links are the noise added by amplifiers and the nonlinear response of the optical fiber due to the Kerr effect.     Sammanfattning : In this work, the photoswitching of molecular systems endowed with photochromic functionality have been investigated for the reversible photonic gating of excitation energy transfer (FRET) reactions as well as in application for all-photonic molecular logic.
