2. Global trade, food production and ecosystem support : Making the interactions visible
Sammanfattning : Modern food production is a complex, globalized system in which what we eat and how it is produced are increasingly disconnected. This thesis examines some of the ways in which global trade has changed the mix of inputs to food and feed, and how this affects food security and our perceptions of sustainability. LÄS MER
3. Bioenergy from the Swedish forest sector : a partial equilibrium analysis of supply costs and implications for the forest product markets
Sammanfattning : As a response to policy requirements to improve energy security, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the use of bioenergy in Sweden has more than doubled since 1980. In 2008 bioenergy use in Sweden amounted to 108 TWh, or 18% of the total supply of primary energy. Nearly all of this bioenergy supply originates from the domestic forest sector. LÄS MER
4. Celiac disease in Swedish children and adolescents : variations in incidence and essentials of gluten-free eating with a youth perspective
Sammanfattning : Background Sweden has experienced a unique epidemic of celiac disease (CD) in children younger than 2 years of age. The epidemic was partly explained by changes over time in infant feeding and indicated a multifactorial aetiology. LÄS MER
5. Spatial economic modelling of greenhouse gas abatement on agricultural land
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates how agricultural land can be used for cost-effective abatement of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The impacts of spatial relationships and characteristics of land on the costs of producing biofuel for the purpose of emissions abatement, and on global emissions caused by agricultural policies, are evaluated using spatial economic models.
