  1. 11. Experimental Aspects on Chronic Whiplash-Associated Pain

    Författare :Dag Lemming; Björn Gerdle; Per Hansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neck injury; whiplash-associated disorders; chronic pain; central sensitization; pain assessment; drug challenges; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Chronic pain after whiplash trauma (chronic WAD) to the neck is still a common clinical problem in terms of pain management, rehabilitation and insurance claims. In contrast to the increased knowledge concerning mechanisms of chronic pain in general, no clinical guidelines exist concerning assessment, pain control and rehabilitation of patients with chronic WAD. 2. 12. Initial Studies of Dynamic Responses of Female and Male Volunteers in Rear Impact Tests

    Författare :Anna K Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dynamic response; rear impact; response corridors; volunteers; crash test; neck injury; whiplash; females;

    Sammanfattning : Whiplash Associated Disorder (WAD) - commonly denoted whiplash injury - resulting from vehicle impacts, is a worldwide epidemic. These injuries occur at relatively low changes of velocity (typically between 10-25 km/h) and in impacts from all directions. Rear impacts are however the most common in the accident statistics. 3. 13. Female and Male Whole Spinal Alignment and Cervical Kinematic Responses in Rear Impacts

    Författare :Fusako Sato Sakayachi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; neck injury; spinal alignment; whiplash; cervical vertebral kinematics; volunteer; Multi-Dimensional Scaling; rear impact; automotive seated posture; MRI; female;

    Sammanfattning : The susceptibility of women to Whiplash Associated Disorders (WADs) has been the focus of numerous epidemiologic studies. Summarising the epidemiologic WAD studies, women were found to be at three times higher risk of sustaining WADs than men. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Human brain function evaluated with rCBF-SPECT : memory and pain related changes and new diagnostic possibilities in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Torbjörn Sundström; Katrine Riklund; Rimma Danielsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain imaging; rCBF; SPECT; early diagnosis; brain atlas; HMPAO; Alzheimer´s disease; Whiplash; neuropsychological function; episodic memory; Diagnostic radiology; Diagnostisk radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral thesis was to study the influence of memory, pain, age and education on the regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), i.e. brain function, in early Alzheimer's disease (AD) and in chronic neck pain patients in comparison to healthy controls and in healthy elderly per se. 5. 15. Visualization of Peripheral Pain Generating Processes and Inflammation in Musculoskeletal Tissue using [11C]-D-deprenyl PET

    Författare :Mikko Aarnio; Torsten Gordh; Jens Sörensen; Magnus Peterson; Lars Ståhle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ankle injuries; arthritis; binding site; binding target; carbon-11; deprenyl; high-throughput screening; inflammation; monoamine oxi-dase; pain; PET; whiplash; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : An objective visualization and quantification of pain-generating processes in the periphery would alter pain diagnosis and represent an important paradigm shift in pain research. Positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand [11C]-D-deprenyl has shown an elevated uptake in painful inflammatory arthritis and whiplash-associated disorder. LÄS MER
