  1. 1. Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domain (LRIG) proteins : possible prognostic markers in vulvar squamous cell carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma, and oropharymgeal squamous cell carcinoma

    Författare :Husam Oda; David Lindquist; Eva Lundin; Ulrika Ottander; Kristina Stefansson; Kate Cuschieri; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vulvar squamous cell carcinoma; endometrial carcinoma; oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma; LRIG1-3; HPV; LMO7; HPV-driven; non-HPV-driven; prognosis; overall survival; disease-free survival; p53; Ki-67; CD8 TILs; CD44.; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The human leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domain (LRIG) gene family comprises three genes, LRIG1, LRIG2 and LRIG3, which encode the LRIG1, LRIG2 and LRIG3 proteins, respectively. Previous stidies have revealed the different prognostic roles of these proteins in different cancers, and it has been shown that LRIG1 functions as a tumour suppressor in certain cancers via its negative regulation of several receptor tyrosine kinases. 2. 2. Etiologic, diagnostic and prognostic factors in vulvar cancer

    Författare :Gunnel Lindell; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :sentinel node biopsy;

    Sammanfattning : Vulvar Squamous Cell Carcinoma (VSCC) can be divided into two subgroups basaloid and/or warty (HPV-associated) and keratinizing/non-keratinizing carcinomas (not HPV-associated). The inguinal lymph node status represents the most powerful prognostic factor. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Vulvar cancer : patterns of recurrence, quality of life and extended indications for the sentinel node technique

    Författare :Diana Zach; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Vulvar cancer is a rare malignancy and few studies have addressed the course of disease and the impact of physical and psychological symptoms on healthrelated quality of life (HRQOL) over time. In addition, extending the indication for sentinel node biopsy in vulvar cancer requires further evaluation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular markers reflecting malignant transformation and tumor progression

    Författare :Patricia Stoltzfus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular markers; interphase fluorescence in situ hytidization; genetic diagnostic test; laminin-5 gamma2 chain; immunohistochemistry; precancerous lesions; invasiveness; breast cancer; cervical squamous cell carcinoma; tongue carcinoma; vulvar carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : The early detection of neoplastic lesions is most critical in the successful treatment of malignant disease. This thesis investigates molecular targets for an improved detection and diagnosis of cancer by exploring the value of interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to detect specific chromosomal aneuploidies and gene amplifications, and laminin-5 gamma2 chain expression detected by immunohistochemistry as a marker for invasiveness. 5. 5. Clinical proteomics : quantitative analysis and biological interpretation

    Författare :AnnSofi Sandberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The main expectations of applying proteomics technologies to clinical questions are the discovery of disease related biomarkers. Despite technological advancement to increase proteome coverage and depth to meet these expectations the number of generated biomarkers for clinical use is small. LÄS MER
