  1. 1. Molecular markers reflecting malignant transformation and tumor progression

    Författare :Patricia Stoltzfus; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Molecular markers; interphase fluorescence in situ hytidization; genetic diagnostic test; laminin-5 gamma2 chain; immunohistochemistry; precancerous lesions; invasiveness; breast cancer; cervical squamous cell carcinoma; tongue carcinoma; vulvar carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : The early detection of neoplastic lesions is most critical in the successful treatment of malignant disease. This thesis investigates molecular targets for an improved detection and diagnosis of cancer by exploring the value of interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to detect specific chromosomal aneuploidies and gene amplifications, and laminin-5 gamma2 chain expression detected by immunohistochemistry as a marker for invasiveness. 2. 2. Vaginal carcinoma : studies on etiology and prognostic factors

    Författare :Kristina Hellman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Primary vaginal carcinoma; genesis; etiology; prognosis; lammin-5gamma2 chain; CGH; genomic instability; protein expression; hierarchical cluster analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Primary carcinoma of the vagina (PCV) is a rare disease, with poor survival, mostly affecting elderly women. Due to its rarity the established knowledge originates from studies based on small materials, therefore little is known regarding the genesis, natural history and factors predicting the prognosis. 3. 3. Molecular markers and new techniques in the evaluation of colorectal cancer

    Författare :Claes Lenander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is ranked in the Western world as the third leading cause of death from malignant tumors. Despite improvements in early detection of the disease, new surgical techniques and adjuvant and neoadjuvant chemoradiation, more than 50% of these patients die within 5 years. LÄS MER
