18. Structural and functional changes in the brain after surgically repaired median nerve injury
Sammanfattning : Despite the best available surgical repair, traumatic median nerve injury within the forearm typically causes lifelong impairment in hand function. This stems from an inadequate reinnervation of the nerves supporting sensory functions of the thumb, index and long finger, and of nerves supplying intrinsic hand muscles. LÄS MER
19. Polymer-shelled Ultrasound Contrast Agents : Characterization and Application
Sammanfattning : Ultrasound-based imaging technique is probably the most used approach for rapid investigationand monitoring of anatomical and physiological conditions of internal organs and tissues.Ultrasound-based techniques do not require the use of ionizing radiation making the tests anexceptionally safe and painless. 20. Pulse oximetry : methodological considerations : experimental, in vitro and human investigations
Sammanfattning : Pulse oximeters monitor non-invasively the haemoglobin oxygen saturation. Light of two specific wavelengths, red and infrared light, is shined through a tissue, usually the finger, and the intensity of the light transmitted is measured. Oxyhaemoglobin absorbs the light differently when compared to reduced haemoglobin. LÄS MER
