  1. 1. Energy Efficiency Improvements in Household Refrigeration Cooling Systems

    Författare :Erik Björk; Björn Palm; Claudio Melo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Household refrigerator; Domestic refrigerator; Free convection; Plate evaporator; Heat transfer; Flow boiling; Isobutane; R600a; Pressure drop; Two-phase; Cooling system; Charge inventory; Cyclic losses; Thermography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on eight articles all related to the characteristics of the cooling system and plate evaporator of a household refrigerator. Through these articles, knowledge is provided that can be used to increase the operational efficiency in household refrigeration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Experimental Heat Transfer, pressure drop, and Flow Visualization of R-134a in Vertical Mini/Micro Tubes

    Författare :Wahib Owhaib; Björn Palm; Tassos Karayiannis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Minichannel; microchannel; heat transfer; pressure drop; single-phase; two-phase; flow boiling; flow visualization; dry out; bubble behavior; flow pattern.; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : For the application of minichannel heat exchangers, it is necessary to have accurate design tools for predicting heat transfer and pressure drop. Until recently, this type of heat exchangers was not well studied, and in the scientific literature there were large discrepancies between results reported by different investigators. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical Modelling of Subcooled Nucleate Boiling for Thermal Management Solutions Using OpenFOAM

    Författare :Achref Rabhi; Rebei Bel Fdhila; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Ioanna Aslanidou; Christophe Duwig; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Computational Fluid Dynamics; Boiling Flows; Two-phase cooling; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Two-phase cooling solutions employing subcooled nucleate boiling flows e.g. thermosyphons, have gained a special interest during the last few decades. This interest stems from their enhanced ability to remove extremely high heat fluxes, while keeping a uniform surface temperature. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Weld Pool Simulations

    Författare :Marcus Edstorp; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods;

    Sammanfattning : This investigation is devoted to the study of welding and its effect on the workpiece, focusing on the thermo and fluid dynamical phenomena occuring during a autogenous or nonautogenous arc fusion welding process. Its aim is to simulate the behaviour of the weld pool and analyze the consequence of the solid-liquid phase change, thus obtaining a methodology for predicting the appearance of weld defects related to solidification and cooling. 5. 5. Black liquor gasification : burner characteristics and syngas cooling

    Författare :Mikael Risberg; Mats Lindblom; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Black liquor gasification at high temperature is a promising alternative to the conventional recovery boiler process used in chemical pulp mills today. Compared to a conventional recovery boiler a black liquor gasifier can increase the total energy efficiency of a chemical pulp mill and produce a synthesis gas that can be used for production of motor fuel.
