  1. 26. Image processing on optimal volume sampling lattices : Thinking outside the box

    Författare :Elisabeth Schold Linnér; Robin Strand; Ewert Bengtsson; Alexandre Falcão; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; BCC; FCC; aliasing; distance transform; segmentation; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis summarizes a series of studies of how image quality is affected by the choice of sampling pattern in 3D. Our comparison includes the Cartesian cubic (CC) lattice, the body-centered cubic (BCC) lattice, and the face-centered cubic (FCC) lattice. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The liver is one of the largest organs within the human body and it handles many vital tasks such as nutrient processing, toxin removal, and synthesis of important proteins. The number of people suffering from chronic liver disease is on the rise, likely due to the present ‘western’ lifestyle. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Medical Volume Visualization Beyond Single Voxel Values

    Författare :Stefan Lindholm; Anders Ynnerman; Eduard Gröller; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Medical visualization involves many complex decisions for both the user and the imaging algorithms. This thesis aims to improve medical volume visualization through a series of technical contributions to aid such decision processes. Improvements are achieved by using more data, beyond single voxels, in the associated visual analyses. LÄS MER

    Författare :Klara Leffler; Jun Yu; Ida Häggström; Zhiyong Zhou; Saikat Chatterjee; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sparse signal processing; compressed sensing; Poisson denoising; positron emission tomography PET ; sinogram denoising; sinogram inpainting; deep learning; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : Much like a backwards computed Sudoku puzzle, starting from the completed number grid and working ones way down to a partially completed grid without damaging the route back to the full unique solution, this thesis tackles the challenges behind setting up a number puzzle in the context of biomedical imaging. By leveraging sparse signal processing theory, we study the means of practical undersampling of positron emission tomography (PET) measurements, an imaging modality in nuclear medicine that visualises functional processes within the body using radioactive tracers. 5. 30. Prenatal Tisse Velocity Imaging of the Heart : A new approach to assess fetal myocardial function

    Författare :Nina Elmstedt; Lars-Åke Brodin; Britta Lind; Karel Marsal; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis has been to evaluate color‐coded tissue velocity imaging (TVI) as an approach to developing a new, non‐invasive assessment method for fetal myocardial function. Such a method could hypothetically give early indications of fetal pathology, as myocardial dysfunction is often the consequence when the circulation tries to adapt to deteriorating situations.
