26. Child–Robot Interaction in Education
Sammanfattning : Advances in the field of robotics in recent years have enabled the deployment of robots in a multitude of settings, and it is predicted that this will continue to increase, leading to a profound impact on society in the future. This thesis takes its starting point in educational robots; specifically the kind of robots that are designed to interact socially with children. LÄS MER
27. Human factors in mechanized cut-to-length forest operations
Sammanfattning : Although forest operations research has a more than 50-year-long tradition in the field of human factors, there is a current decline in resources put on continuous and systematic human factors research. Therefore, the overall aim of this thesis was to contribute new knowledge on working conditions in mechanized cut-to-length logging operations and their relationship to system performance. LÄS MER
28. Representing human-automation challenges
Sammanfattning : Automation technology is widely implemented in process control domains due to its benefits of improving efficiency and enhancing control. However, use of automation also introduces an often complex intermediary between the human and the controlled domain, which can obscure from the operator how system functioning is achieved. LÄS MER
29. Methods for Analysis of Naturalistic Driving Data in Driver Behavior Research
Sammanfattning : In the last several years, the focus of traffic safety research—especially when performed in association with the automotive industry—has shifted from preventing injury during a crash to avoiding the crash altogether or mitigating its effects. Pre-crash safety measures include intelligent safety systems (e.g. LÄS MER
30. Spaceborne SAR in Sea Ice Monitoring: Algorithm Development and Validation for the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The usefulness of new spaceborne synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) sensors at L-, C-, and X-band for operational sea ice monitoring in the Baltic Sea has been evaluated. It is concluded that the information content in C-band and X-band data is largely equivalent, although larger spatial coverage is an advantage of the current C-band satellites. LÄS MER
