16. Ground Improvement by Dry Deep Mixing Lime-Cement Column Panels as Excavation Support
Sammanfattning : Many urban areas near the coastal regions of Sweden are characterized by post-glacial clay deposits with very low undrained shear strength and high compressibility. Column type ground improvement by the Deep Mixing, DM, method using a binder mixture of lime and cement is commonly used in areas with poor soil conditions due to its cost-effectiveness, predominantly for settlement reduction and to improve the stability of embankments. 17. Quantum Chemical Calculations on ESR, Core Excitations, and Isotope Effects in Molecular Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, quantum chemical calculations are undertaken mostly in order to interpret experimental results, but also to learn about computational techniques, their performance and their limitations. In paper I, the ionization-cleavage process of alkenes is investigated and two pathways are followed, one of initial cleavage and subsequent ionization and on the opposite, the other one of initial ionization and subsequent cleavage. 18. Theoretical Routes for c-BN Thin Film Growth
Sammanfattning : Cubic boron nitride (c-BN) has been in focus for several years due to its interesting properties. The possibility for large area chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a requirement for the realization of these different properties in various applications. Unfortunately, there are at present severe problems in the CVD growth of c-BN. LÄS MER

20. Characterization of Surfaces Designed for Biomedical Applications
Sammanfattning : In order to develop blood biocompatible materials a heparin surface and a phosphorylcholine (PC) functionalized polymer surface were characterized using photoelectron spectroscopy (PES). The formation of the heparin surface was studied by quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring (QCM-D). LÄS MER
