  1. 21. Molecular ecology of marine mammals

    Författare :Morten Tange Olsen; Per Palsbøll; Martine Bérubé; William “Bill” Amos; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marine mammals; molecular ecology; life history; environmental change; phenotypic plasticity; SNPs; telomeres; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Marine mammals comprise a paraphyletic group of species whose current abundance and distribution has been greatly shaped by past environmental changes and anthropogenic impacts. This thesis describes molecular ecological approaches to answer questions regarding habitat requirements, genetic differentiation, and life-history trade-offs in three species of marine mammals. 2. 22. Investigating the impacts of Late Pleistocene climate change on Arctic mammals using palaeogenomics

    Författare :Edana Lord; Love Dalén; Mirte Bosse; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palaeogenomics; Arctic; Late Pleistocene; past climate; collared lemming; woolly rhinoceros; Norwegian lemming; muskox; demography; population structure; speciation; adaptation; genome erosion; Systematic Zoology; zoologisk systematik och evolutionsforskning;

    Sammanfattning : The climatic fluctuations of the Late Pleistocene likely had a large impact on the evolutionary history of Arctic species. Palaeogenomics is a useful tool to shed light on how past populations responded to these climatic shifts and the associated ice sheet dynamics and sea level change. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Mid-Holocene mineral dust deposition in raised bogs in southern Sweden : Processes and links

    Författare :Jenny Sjöström; Malin Kylander; Carl-Magnus Mörth; Bindler Richard; Lisa Belyea; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleodust; peat; geochemistry; mineralogy; REE; Holocene; peat accumulation rates; paleostorms; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric mineral dust is a key component of the climate system, which affects insolation, brings nutrients to marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and acts as a cloud condensation nuclei. To reconstruct past patterns in terrestrial dust deposition natural archives may be utilized, such as loess, dunes, lakes, and peat bogs. LÄS MER
