  1. 1. S100A9 in inflammation

    Författare :Zhifei He; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; S100A9; inflammation; oxyclozanide; CD14;

    Sammanfattning : S100A9 is a small (13 kD) cytosolic calcium-binding protein. The protein is mainly expressed in neutrophils and monocytes in human but can also be expressed in other cell types under inflammatory conditions. S100A9 is normally co-expressed with S100A8 and forms S100A8/S100A9 heterodimers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on receptors for modified LDL in human monocytes and macrophages : a link between diabetes and atherosclerosis?

    Författare :Linda Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atherosclerosis; diabetes CD14; CD36; CD64; fatty acid; flow cytometry; macrophage; monocyte; scavenger receptor;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes increases the risk for cardiovascular disease three- to fourfold. Because of the rise in diabetes prevalence there is a need for a better understanding of the link between diabetes and atherosclerosis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Marine Propulsion System Performance Beyond the Propulsive Factors

    Författare :Jennie Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; RANS; Energy balance analysis; Propulsor-hull interaction;

    Sammanfattning : The marine propulsion system often operates in the wake of the ship it is mounted on. This implies that the propulsion system affects the flow around the hull, and the inflow to the propulsion system is dependent on the hull shape. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Influence of maternal allergy on the intra uterine environment and on immune functions of the neonate

    Författare :Ulrika Holmlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Allergy; CD14; cord blood; cytokines; human placenta; IgE; Toll-like receptors;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of IgE mediated allergic diseases has drastically increased during the past few decades and there is no satisfactory explanation. A family history of allergic disease is clearly a strong risk factor, bin in view of the rapidity of the increase in allergy prevalence environmental factors are likely to have played a crucial role. 5. 5. Role of TLR4 in Escherichia coli urinary tract infection

    Författare :Patrik Samuelsson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mykologi; virologi; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; serologi; transplantation; Microbiology; virology; bacteriology; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; Pathogen; Mucosa; P-fimbriae; Toll like receptor;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have used P fimbriated E. coli as a model to investigate the mechanisms of bacterial recognition and cell activation by the urinary tract (UT) epithelium. We show that Toll like receptor 4 (TLR4) is crucial for the recognition and host response to P fimbriated E. coli. LÄS MER
