  1. 1. Vem formar den stategiska forskningen? Institutionell dynamik och anslagspolitisk utveckling i KK-stiftelsen

    Författare :Daniel Holmberg; Research Policy Institute (RPI); []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Strategic research; strategic research funding; research funding organization; higher education institutions; organizational institutionalist theory; The Knowledge Foundation;

    Sammanfattning : Research policy is increasingly linked to social needs and to some extent integrated with industrial and innovation policy. The strategic research policy that emerged in Sweden in the early 1990's resulted in the establishment of a new kind of research funding both in form and direction: strategic research foundations. 2. 2. In the name of research : Essays on the ethical treatment of human research subjects

    Författare :Sara Belfrage; Sven Ove Hansson; John Cantwell; Matti Häyry; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Research ethics; informed consent; traffic research; exploitation; coercive offer; compensation; gift-giving; Filosofi; Philosophy;

    Sammanfattning : Essay 1: Traffic research shares a fundamental dilemma with other areas of empirical research in which humans are potentially put at risk. Research is justified because it can improve safety in the long run. Nevertheless, people can be harmed in the research situation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Thinking beyond the Cure : a constructive design research investigation into the patient experience of radiotherapy

    Författare :Tara Mullaney; Erik Stolterman; Helena Pettersson; Johan Redström; Jodi Forlizzi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; constructive design research; patient experience of radiotherapy; actor networks; design experiments; composite methodology; mixed-methods; prototyping; design research; research through design;

    Sammanfattning : This constructive design research dissertation aims to understand how design can be used as part of a composite research approach to generate knowledge about how complex phenomena are composed through their interactions and relationships with various actors, both human and non-human. It has done this by investigating a single phenomenon, the patient experience of radiotherapy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Arrangement Design Studies : the introduction of the digital wall in domestic environments

    Författare :Morteza Abdipour; Erik Stolterman; Mikael Wiberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Digital Walls; Large Displays; Ambient Display Environments; Arrangement; Domestic Environments; Design Research; Research Through Design; Design Studies; Design Research Lab; Constructive Design Research; Participatory Design; User-centered Design; industrial design; industridesign;

    Sammanfattning : This research focuses on the emergence of 'digital walls' that can project images onto almost all or even the entirety of interior (and perhaps exterior) walls, and what implications this might have for how we arrange our rooms. It demonstrates the arrangement, i.e. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Non-intrusive Methods for Mode Estimation in Power Systems using Synchrophasors

    Författare :Vedran Peric; Luigi Vanfretti; Xavier Bombois; Cristian Rojas; Mani V. Venkatasubramanian; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Synchrophasors; Phasor measurement units; system identification; mode estimation; electromechanical oscillations; prediction error; signal selection; experiment design; probing; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Real-time monitoring of electromechanical oscillations is of great significance for power system operators; to this aim, software solutions (algorithms) that use synchrophasor measurements have been developed for this purpose. This thesis investigates different approaches for improving mode estimation process by offering new methods and deepening the understanding of different stages in the mode estimation process. LÄS MER
