6. Multisensor arrays : for bioprocess monitoring
Sammanfattning : Bioprocess engineering, the technology that is focused on the exploitation of the metabolic potential of biological agents, has attracted growing interest throughout the past 50 years from both scientific and industrial communities. The products that have been brought to market range from pharmaceuticals and enzymes to food products and vitamins. LÄS MER
7. On Evaluation of Working Conditions aboard High-Performance Marine Craft
Sammanfattning : High-Performance Marine Craft (HPMC) is a complex system confronted by the stochastic nature of the waves challenging the safety of life at sea. The personnel aboard these craft are vulnerable to detrimental conditions, in fact, limiting the system’s performance evoking the significance of the Human Factors Integration (HFI) in the design and operation of these craft. 8. Evaluation of strategies to predict and improve early graft survival in clinical islet transplantation
Sammanfattning : Transplantation of the islets of Langerhans as a treatment for type 1 diabetes (T1DM) is a procedure still under development. For the last decade it has been possible to obtain insulin independence by repeated infusions of islets. However, most patients must resume insulin therapy in 2-3 years. LÄS MER
9. Dupuytren´s Contracture : Features and Consequences

In a cohort study of 2,375 patients operated for DC at the Department of Hand Surgery, Uppsala there was a male: female ratio of 5.9:1. LÄS MER
10. Cavitation Erosion Mechanisms in Cast Irons
Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis investigated the mechanisms by which cavitation erosion damage develops in lamellar graphite iron (LGI) and austempered ductile irons (ADIs). This has been achieved by image sequences of surface erosion on test samples in tandem with weight change measurements. LÄS MER
