16. Characterization of oxy-fuel flames - their composition, temperature and radiation
Sammanfattning : Oxy-fuel combustion is receiving growing attention as one of the promising CO2 capture technologies in connection to power production. Yet, significant efforts are required in research and development of this combustion process in order to be able to design and optimize a full scale power plant. LÄS MER
17. Developmental Neurotoxicity in Mice Neonatally Co-exposed to Environmental Agents : PCB, PBDE, Methyl Mercury and Ionized Radiation - Interactions and Effects
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the neurotoxic effects in mice neonatally co-exposed to different toxic environmental agents during a defined critical period of the brains's rapid growth and development. Environmental toxic agents are incorporated in our environment. LÄS MER
18. Radiation Oncology Data and Modelling Side Effects after Radiation Therapy
Sammanfattning : Although modern radiation therapy techniques have the ability to conform the dose distribution of ionizing radiation tightly around the volume to be treated, unwanted irradiation to surrounding organs remains a problem. The probability of a side effect arising in the normal tissue of a patient after radiation therapy can be modelled by sigmoid mathematical functions known as normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) models. 19. Radiation tests of semiconductor detectors
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the response of Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) detectors to ionizing irradiation. Detectors based on π-υ junction formed by deep level centers doping. LÄS MER
20. Cellular effects after exposure to mixed beams of ionizing radiation
Sammanfattning : Mixed beams of ionizing radiation in our environment originate from space, the bedrock and our own houses. Radiotherapy patients treated with boron neutron capture therapy or with high energy photons are also exposed to mixed beams of gamma radiation and neutrons. LÄS MER
