  1. 1. Predicting mortality by comorbidity for patients with hip arthroplasty: Prospective observational register studies of a nationwide Swedish cohort : Prediktion av död baserat på samsjuklighet efter höftprotesoperation: Prospektiva registerstudier utifrån en nationell svensk kohort

    Författare :Erik Bülow; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hip arthroplasty; orthopaedics; shared decision model; epidemiology; prediction model; mortality; comorbidity; R-package; orthopaedics; osteoarthritis; femoral neck fracture; restricted mean survival time;

    Sammanfattning : INTRODUCTION: Patients with total hip arthroplasty (THA) due to osteoarthritis (OA) are usually healthy, some with a remaining lifetime of several decades after surgery. Patients with hip arthroplasty due to a femoral neck fracture (FNF) are often old and frail with 13 % mortality within 90 days of surgery. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Four Essays on Building Conditional Correlation GARCH Models

    Författare :Tomoaki Nakatani; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four research papers. The main focus is on building the multivariate Conditional Correlation (CC-) GARCH models. In particular, emphasis lies on considering an extension of CC-GARCH models that allow for interactions or causality in conditional variances. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Scan Statistics for Space-Time Cluster Detection

    Författare :Benjamin Allévius; Martin Sköld; Michael Höhle; Paula Moraga-Serrano; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Scan statistics are used by public health agencies to detect and localize disease outbreaks. This thesis provides an overview of scan statistics in the context of prospective disease surveillance and outbreak detection, presents a novel scan statistic to deal with the type of zero-abundant data that is often encountered in these settings, and—perhaps most importantly—implements this and other scan statistics in a freely available and open source R package. 4. 4. Uncertainty Estimation in Models of Multivariate Trait Evolution on Given Phylogenies

    Författare :Woodrow Hao Chi Kiang; Krzysztof Bartoszek; Fredrik Ronquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phylogenetic comparative methods; Branching stochastic processes; Fylogenetiska jämförande metoder; Förgrenade stokastiska processer;

    Sammanfattning : Phylogenetic comparative methods are a set of statistical methods that model the evolutionary history of species, especially in the context where one has data on certain traits of related extant species that have evolved over a phylogenetic tree in accordance to an underlying stochastic process. This thesis presents a Hessian-based closed-form asymptotic confidence region that covers a wide family of Gaussian continuous-trait evolution models; the result has been implemented in an R package. 5. 5. Statistical methods for twin and sibling designs

    Författare :Johan Zetterqvist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Twin and sibling studies are valuable in that they allow adjustment for potential confounding factors that are impossible or hard to measure. By measuring associations ‘within-cluster’ it is possible to adjust for many factors that are shared between individuals in the same cluster. LÄS MER
