16. Biocatalysed redox reactions in aqueous and organic media
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals mainly with biocatalysed methods for stereoselective reduction. D-(S)-chlorolactic acid was produced by both microbial and electromicrobial reduction of chloropyruvate using whole cells of Proteus vulgaris and an artificial electron mediator. The electron donor was formate, hydrogen gas or the cathode in an electrochemical cell. LÄS MER
17. Microextraction for usage in environmental monitoring and modelling of nitroaromatic compounds and haloanisoles
Sammanfattning : Processes in the environment are often complex and the description and prediction of the behaviour of environmental pollutants requires sophisticated methodology including multidimensional technology. Multivariate statistical methods including principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares projection to latent structures (PLS) were used to characterise several nitroaromatic compounds according to a large number of chemical and physical properties. 18. Multivariate Measurements and Chemical Imaging of Organic Compounds
Sammanfattning : Chemical imaging is an emerging analytical technique, based on the interplay between, most often, spectroscopic measurements and advanced evaluation methodology. With this we can study the distribution of chemical compounds in different compartments, such as individual cells and pharmaceutical tablets. LÄS MER
19. Nitrous oxide emission from soil : On extrapolation from soil environmental factors
Sammanfattning : Nitrous oxide(N20) is a natural component of the atmosphere which contributes both to the greenhouse effect and to the destruction of stratospheric ozone. National as well as global inventories indicate thatboth natural and anthropogenic emissions from terrestrial ecosystems constitute a large fraction of the annual loading of N20 on the atmosphere. 20. The advantages of being small : Glycosyltransferases in many dimensions and glycolipid synthesis in Mycoplasma Pneumoniae
Sammanfattning : The synthesis and breakdown of sugars is one of the most important functions in Nature. Consequently, sugar structures are used both as energy storage and as building blocks to stabilise and protect the cell. The formation of these structures is performed by glycosyltransferases (GT), an enzyme group structurally conserved within all kingdoms. LÄS MER
