16. Investigation of the Freeze-Thawing Process for Pharmaceutical Formulations of a Model Protein
Sammanfattning : Recent advances in recombinant DNA technology have resulted in a great number of proteins with a potential to enter pharmaceutical formulations. The most commonly used method for preparing protein pharmaceuticals is by freeze-drying. LÄS MER
17. Tabletting behaviour of aggregates : Mechanistical conception and modulation by variations in aggregate physical properties
Sammanfattning : The volume reduction mechanisms involved during compression of aggregates prepared from microcrystalline cellulose particles and effects of variations in their physical properties on their compression behaviour and compactability were studied in this thesis. The dominating volume reduction mechanisms during compression of aggregates prepared of MCC were deformation (bulk deformation and local deformation) parallel with densification, and generally the degree of fragmentation of the aggregates was minute. 18. Methodological studies on non-linear mixed effects model building
Sammanfattning : Population analysis of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) data by the use of non-linear mixed effects modeling offers a number of benefits over traditional methods of analyzing this type of data. These benefits include the possibility to appropriately characterize the typical PK/PD behaviour in the population as well as the associated variability when only a few observations are available for each individual. 19. Transport and metabolism of opioid tetrapeptide agonists with a focus on oral and respiratory delivery
Sammanfattning : The clinical development of peptide drugs for oral delivery has often been hindered because of poor transport across the intestinal membranes and degradation in the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Alternative delivery routes through more permeable membranes preferably with less pronounced proteolytic activity, such as the nasal and pulmonary routes, have therefore been considered. LÄS MER
20. Intestinal transport and hepatic extraction of fluvastatin in humans and rats
Sammanfattning : The oral route is the most convenient route of delivering drugs intended to have systemic effects. One of the key variables determining the rate and extent of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is the intestinal permeability to the drug. LÄS MER
