  1. 36. Word Learning in the Developing Brain : ERP Dynamics of Learning Word-Object Associations

    Författare :Kristina Borgström; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Word Learning; Language development; EEG; ERP; N400;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigated electrophysiological measures of individual differences in toddlers’ ability to learn novel object labels and process familiar object words and their referents. The studies measured both visual and auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) in response to pictures of objects and words in a longitudinal sample of 20- to 24-month-olds, an age of dynamic vocabulary development. 2. 37. How It All Relates : Exploring the Space of Value Comparisons

    Författare :Henrik Andersson; Praktisk filosofi; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; värderelationer; vaghet; paritet; ojämförbarhet; värdejämförelser; svåra jämförelser; transitivitet; kollapsprincipen; Value relations; vagueness; parity; incomparability; incommensurability; indeterminacy; value comparisons; hard cases of comparison; transitivity; the collapsing principle;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores whether the three standard value relations, “better than”, “worse than” and “equally as good”, exhaust the possibilities in which things can relate with respect to their value. Or more precisely, whether there are examples in which one of these relations is not instantiated. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Through the coding-lens : community detection and beyond

    Författare :Christopher Blöcker; Martin Rosvall; Juan Carlos Nieves; Jari Saramäki; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; community detection; map equation; Huffman coding; network centrality; link prediction;

    Sammanfattning : We live in a highly-connected world and find networks wherever we look: social networks, public transport networks, telecommunication networks, financial networks, and more. These networks can be immensely complex, comprising potentially millions or even billions of inter-connected objects. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Morphometric and Landscape Feature Analysis with Artificial Neural Networks and SRTM data : Applications in Humid and Arid Environments

    Författare :Amir Houshang Ehsani; Friedrich Quiel; Wolfgang Wagner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Self Organizing Map; Neural Network; Morphometric Feature; Landscape; Yardang; Lut Desert; Potential natural vegetation; geoecosystem; Landform; Landsat ETM ; Morphometric Parameters; SRTM; Resolution; Curvatures; DEM.; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a semi-automatic method to analyze morphometric features and landscape elements based on Self Organizing Map (SOM) as an unsupervised Artificial Neural Network algorithm in two completely different environments: 1) the Man and Biosphere Reserve “Eastern Carpathians” (Central Europe) as a complex mountainous humid area and 2) Lut Desert, Iran, a hyper arid region characterized by repetition of wind-eroded features. In 2003, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) released the SRTM/ SIR-C band data with 3 arc seconds (approx. LÄS MER

  5. 40. A Theory of Architectural Objects to support Design Configuration

    Författare :Fredrik Wikberg; Projekteringsmetodik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; architectural design; architectural object; design configuration; BIM; product platforms;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis presents the results from a research project targeting architectural design and house-building in a setting of industrialized design process and product platforms. During the early stages of a traditional design process, architects manage a degree of problem complexity, besides technical aspects, also includes user function, material, environment, aesthetics etc. LÄS MER
