  1. 1. Hybrid Solvers for the Maxwell Equations in Time-Domain

    Författare :Fredrik Edelvik; Per Lötstedt; Jan Hesthaven; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Maxwell s equations; time-domain; finite volume methods; finite element methods; hybrid solver; dispersive materials; thin wires; Beräkningsvetenskap; Scientific Computing;

    Sammanfattning : The most commonly used method for the time-domain Maxwell equations is the Finite-Difference Time-Domain method (FDTD). This is an explicit, second-order accurate method, which is used on a staggered Cartesian grid. The main drawback with the FDTD method is its inability to accurately model curved objects and small geometrical features. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Finite volume solvers for the Maxwell equations in time domain

    Författare :Fredrik Edelvik; Per Lötstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Two unstructured finite volume solvers for the Maxwell equations in 2D and 3D are introduced. The solvers are a generalization of FD–TD to unstructured grids and they use a third-order staggered Adams–Bashforth scheme for time discretization. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Numerical methods for waveguide modelling

    Författare :Christer Johansson; Björn Engquist; Per Lötstedt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Waveguide; finite element; hp-adaptivity; helmholtz; maxwell; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Waveguides are used to transmit electromagnetic signals. Their geometry is typically long and slender. This particular shape can be used in the design of efficient computational methods. Only special modes are transmitted and eigenvalue and eigenvector analysis becomes important. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Wave Splitting in Direct and Inverse Scattering Problems

    Författare :Mats Gustafsson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maxwell equations; inverse problem; Electronics; inverse scattering; wave splitting; Elektronik;

    Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on the use of wave splitting in electromagnetic direct and inverse scattering problems. Wave splitting offers a decomposition of wave fields into appropriate input and output wave constituents. LÄS MER
