1. Marine Seaweed Invasions : the Ecology of Introduced Fucus evanescens
Sammanfattning : Biological invasions are an important issue of global change and an increased understanding of invasion processes is of crucial importance for both conservation managers and international trade. In this thesis, I have studied the invasion of the brown seaweed Fucus evanescens, to investigate the fate and effect of a perennial, habitat-forming seaweed introduced to a coastal ecosystem. 2. Methane dynamics in northern wetlands: Significance of vascular plants
Sammanfattning : The studies presented in Papers I to VI illustrate several different aspects of the impact of vascular plants on methane emissions from northern natural wetlands. The subject has been approached on different scales, ranging from the study of microbial substrates in the vicinity of a single plant root, to an attempt to extrapolate some of the results to the entire northern hemisphere north of 50°N. 3. The impact of cormorant nesting colonies on plants and arthropods
Sammanfattning : Seabirds concentrate large amounts of marine nutrients on their nesting islands. This nutrient input can have large consequences for island food webs and community structure. The high nutrient load may also cause runoff into surrounding waters and affect marine communities. LÄS MER

5. Medium Voltage Generation System with Five-level NPC Converters for Kite Tidal Power
Sammanfattning : Offshore power generation has emerged as a prominent source of energy and the installed capacity of new plants has been steadily increasing in recent years. Tidal power specifically is a promising renewable energy source which has not been highly exploited yet, despite its distinctive advantages of being predictable and independent of weather conditions.
