  1. 31. Studies of atherogenic lipoproteins using mass spectrometry-based lipidomics

    Författare :Marcus Ståhlman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lipids; lipoproteins; atherogenesis; lipidomics; type 2 diabetes; mass spectrometry;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing worldwide and is about to reach epidemic proportions. The disease is often associated with dyslipidemia which is characterized by an atherogenic lipoprotein profile including elevated serum triacylglycerol levels, low high-density lipoprotein levels and high levels of small low-density lipoproteins. 2. 32. Long-term effects of growth hormone replacement in hypopituitary adults on body composition, bone mass and cardiovascular risk factors

    Författare :Mariam Elbornsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; growth hormone; growth hormone deficiency; growth hormone replacement; bone mineral density; body composition; muscle strength; elderly; cardiovascular risk factors; pituitary irradiation;

    Sammanfattning : Growth hormone (GH) deficient (GHD) adults have decreased bone mass and muscle strength, impaired body composition, disturbed serum lipid pattern and increased morbidity and mortality in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. GH replacement normalizes most of these aberrations within the first year of treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Factors of impotance for women's health at midlife with special emphasis on effect by sex steroids

    Författare :Cairu Li; Kardiovaskulär forskning - epidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrologi; reproduktion; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; sexualitet; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; lipids; carbohydrate metabolism; norethisterone acetate; estradiol; HRT; symptomatology; Menopause; midlife women;

    Sammanfattning : Menopause is not a disease, but may bring about a wide range of health complaints and increase some risks of illnesses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the general health status and influences of background factors on symptomatology among a cohort of Swedish women aged 50-64 years, with specific emphasis on the effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) by investigating a profile of HRT use, long-term effects of HRT by different tapes and routes of administration as well as clinical and metabolic changes by use of low dose HRT. 4. 34. Studies on stable angina pectoris : risk indicators, prognosis and effects of verapamil or metoprolol treatment

    Författare :Claes Held; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :angina pectoris; haemostasis; fibrinolysis; inflammation; lipids; platelets; ultrasound; intima-media thickness; plaques; metoprolol; verapamil; prognosis; ;

    Sammanfattning : Hemostatic and fibrinolytic variables, inflammatory parameters, catecholamines and lipid parameters were studied at baseline, in a long-term prospective study of 809 patients with stable angina pectoris, and compared to results obtained in healthy control subjects (n=50). The prognostic implications of the various parameters at baseline were evaluated, as well as possible influences of drug treatment on these variables and their prognostic implications were studied. 5. 35. Combining mass spectrometric tissue imaging with conventional histology : focus on Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Santiago Solé Domènech; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Historically, most scientific discoveries have been accompanied by previous technological innovation. Representative examples are the introduction of gene sequencing technologies, which allowed for the mapping of the human genome, or the constant improvement in the microscopy field that lead to the introduction of modern multiphoton imaging techniques, allowing for live imaging of body organs in animal specimens.
