17. On the influence of surface roughness on rolling contact forces
Sammanfattning : Road vehicle tyres, railway wheels and ball bearings all generate rolling contact forces which are transferred within a finite area of contact between the rolling element and the substrate. Either it is visible or not for the human eye, a certain degree of roughness is always present on the contacting surfaces and it influences the generation of both vertical and lateral contactforces. 18. Nonlinear Interaction Between Ultrasonic Waves and Cracks and Interfaces
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the development of new ultrasound inspection techniques for detection of cracks that are smaller than the wavelength of the inspecting wave and the characterization of cracks in fluid-filled pipes as either surface-breaking or subsurface. The spectrum of the scattered field of a partially closed crack comprises harmonic components not expected to be found in the case of linear scatterers such as pores or inclusions. LÄS MER
19. Transient vibrations from dry clutch operation in heavy-duty truck powertrains : Modelling, simulation and validation
Sammanfattning : For internal combustion engines used in heavy-duty vehicles, increased engine efficiency and consequently reduced CO2 emissions can be obtained if the engine speed can be kept within an optimal speed range. This requires swift and frequent gear shifts where the dry friction clutch is utilized. LÄS MER
20. Rotating Structure Modeling and Damping Measurements
Sammanfattning : The structural damping is of importance to suppress the vibration amplitude of compressor blades rotating at high angular velocity under a high cycle impact. To avoid the appearance of the high cycle fatigue (HCF), damping materials may be applied to the compressor blades. LÄS MER
